I just picked up this piece in the junk bin at Woodcraft. I'm probably going to use it to bookmatch a peghead veneer or something like that. Nobody there knew what it was so I thought I would ask the masses. My guess is some sort of rosewood or braz cherry. Any thoughts? I'm inserting a side shot as well to get a better look at the pores. Thanks for your input. Thanks again. -j. |

If you are familiar with the smell of Coco give it a quick sanding and smell it. |

Cocobolo will have a strong cinnamony smell, kinda like cinnamon on steroids. Also, sand some of that red, tape the dust to your arm. If you have whelps in thirty minutes, well, it may be cocobolo. I will say it's a nice looking piece of wood, whatever it is. |

Nah, Don, If I were trying to kill him, I'd advise snorting a couple lines of coco dust. Whelps were all I was after..... |
